6" Schefflera Amate

Schefflera Amate (Heptapleurum actinophyllum ‘Amate’, formerly Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’)

Schefflera Amate is a gorgeous tropical houseplant known for its large, glossy, deep green leaves that spread outward like the spokes of an umbrella. Its lush, oversized foliage creates a bold, tropical appearance, making it an excellent statement plant for bright living rooms, offices, and indoor spaces that could use a little extra greenery.

Also known as the Amate Umbrella Tree, this vigorous grower is loved for its beautiful foliage and relatively easygoing personality. Compared to some other Schefflera varieties, Amate is known for its especially large, shiny leaves and strong upright growth. With plenty of indirect light and proper care, it can develop into an impressive indoor tree. Occasional pruning can help control its size and encourage a fuller appearance.

Care Tips:
☀️ Light: Medium to bright, indirect light, tolerates some gentle direct morning sunlight
💧 Water: Allow the top 1 to 2 inches of soil to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly. Avoid soggy soil
🌫 Humidity: Average household humidity is usually sufficient, but appreciates moderate humidity
❄️ Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 65 to 85°F, protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F
🐾 Pet Friendly: No
⭐ Rare: No

Fun Fact:
Schefflera gets its nickname, Umbrella Tree, from the way its leaflets radiate outward from a central point, resembling the ribs of an umbrella. In tropical environments, its relatives can grow into enormous trees, but indoors, Amate makes a beautiful, manageable statement plant. Basically, it's bringing the jungle indoors without requiring you to actually live in one. 🌿☂️
